It is a priviledge for Schools That Rock to introduce Eunice Hich School’s 1st hockey team’s captain, Lienke Lombaard, to the visitors of our website.
“I started with Tennis, Gymnastics and Hockey when I was six. I currently play centre link. I started my hockey career as a back and then moved to a forward and then moved to a link. I have been co-captain of my SFS teams in u/14 and u/16 as well as captain of my club hockey, Bloem Hawks u/18 team.
We train approximately 2 hours a day from Monday to Thursday doing hockey training and fitness. On Fridays I rest, Saturdays and Sundays I go to the gym or go for a long run.
I used to play tennis as well but currently I only have time to focus on one sport.
I prefer team sports. The encouragement from teammates is what gets me through those tough times and sharing the wonderful memories with different people is a highlight for me.
As a captain I want to encourage my team to be the best that they can be and to keep them as one unit and fighting for the same goals. I see my duty as captain to make sure that we get the best out of every person so that the team can succeed.”
