Schools’ Girls Cricket. Last Friday, the Grantleigh 1st Team Girls’ Cricket side delivered a thrilling Schools’ Girls Cricket encounter against Felixton. The home team was determined to avenge a narrow defeat from earlier in the season.
Electing to bowl first, Grantleigh’s disciplined attack restricted Felixton to just 78 runs. Standout performances came from Mia Vermaak and Lowe Ngema. Each claimed three wickets with precision and poise. In response, Grantleigh chased down the target with confidence, anchored by a commanding 63 not out from Mia, sealing a well-earned 6-wicket victory.
This fixture held special significance, marking one of Mia’s final appearances for Grantleigh. As she left the pitch, teammates and coaches formed a heartfelt guard of honour — a poignant tribute to her years of dedication, leadership, and excellence within the school’s cricket programme.
Grantleigh Schools continues to champion the achievements of its students, nurturing a culture of excellence, sportsmanship, and teamwork both on and off the field.
