The energy is electric at the SA Schools Hockey Nationals, currently underway at the picturesque St Anne’s in Hilton, Pietermaritzburg. Among the rising stars lighting up the field is Point High School’s very own Catherine-Lee Gouws.
Representing the Eden U18 team, Catherine-Lee has already made her mark in this high-stakes tournament. This tournament draws together the best of South African school hockey talent. In a thrilling display of grit and teamwork, Eden clinched a 1–0 win over Northern Cape. It was a match that had spectators on the edge of their seats.
But it was Catherine-Lee who truly stole the show, being awarded the coveted Inhouse Trophy: Her Wings for her blistering dribbling speed and precision passing. A well-deserved nod to her undeniable flair as well as leadership on the turf.
Not one to rest on their laurels, Eden also came out firing again this morning, delivering a powerful 4–0 victory over Limpopo, solidifying their status as serious contenders in the championship.
