SA Junior National Swimming. Curro Durbanville is exceptionally proud of its learners who formed part of the Curro Aquatics team at the recent SA Junior National Swimming Championship Gala. The five-day event saw over 800 of the country’s top junior swimmers from more than 100 clubs compete at the highest level. Curro Durbanville and our learners made their mark.
Curro Aquatics placed an outstanding third overall in the national rankings, with the men’s team finishing second and the women eighth. This is a remarkable achievement and testament to the dedication and talent within the Curro swimming family.
Ernst Bezuidenhout
Grade 9, Curro Durbanville High School
Ernst delivered a phenomenal performance, achieving 11 personal bests and an impressive collection of medals:
- Gold: 4x100m Freestyle Relay, 4x100m Medley Relay, 4x100m Mixed Freestyle Relay, 50m Backstroke Silver: 100m Backstroke, 200m Freestyle, 400m Individual Medley, 4x50m Relay, 4x100m Mixed Medley Relay
- Bronze: 400m Freestyle, 200m Individual Medley, 800m Freestyle, 200m Backstroke
- Finalist: 6th in 100m Freestyle
Michael Bright
Grade 7, Curro Durbanville Primary School
Michael recorded an incredible 17 personal bests and added more medals to Curro’s success:
- Gold: 100m Backstroke, 50m Backstroke
- Silver: 100m Butterfly, 200m Backstroke
- Bronze: 50m Butterfly, 200m Individual Medley
- Finalist: 6th in 200m Freestyle, 8th in 100m Freestyle and 400m Freestyle
These two boys’ achievements not only highlight their individual commitment and excellence but also reflect the strength and depth of talent nurtured at Curro Durbanville. “We are immensely proud of Ernst, Michael, as well as every Curro Durbanville learner who contributed to the Curro Aquatics team’s success.
