Paul Roos Gimnasium, Stellenbosch, se o19A-krieket span het in die laaste kwartaal behoorlik tande gewys.PRG o19A Krieket het met meer as een skool wat bo hulle op die ranglys is afgereken. Die afgelope naweek was dit die beurt van Hoërskool Rondebosch. Hulle is nommer een op die ranglys. Rondebosch het met 18 lopies teenoor Paul Roos die knie gebuig.
Paul Roos het eerste gekolf en na ’n vinnige paaltjie aan die begin van hul beurt, het Josh Jordaan (32) en Cormey van der Watt (94) die leiding met die kolf geneem. Hierdie twee kolwers het hul span tot ’n bestendige 94/1 geneem voordat Josh sy paaltjie verloor het. Van der Watt het sy 94 lopies van 96 balle geslaan. Hy het onder andere agt viere en twee sesse geslaan!. Cormey is ongelukkig net kort van sy 100-tal BVP betrap. Daarna het die paaltjies vinnig geval, maar met die hulp van Beor van Reenen (20*) het Paul Roos se beurt op 227/9 (50) geëindig.
Paul Roos se boulers het met gereelde intervalle paaltjies geneem. Callum Appollis en Cormey van der Watt eindig met syfers van 2 vir 32 en 3 vir 32 onderskeidelik. Cormey neem ook die laaste paaltjie om Rondebosch uit te boul vir 208 lopies.
PRG wen die wedstryd met 18 lopies.
PRG U19A Cricket
Paul Roos Gymnasium, Stellenbosch’s U19A cricket team showed some teeth in the last quarter. They have dealt with more than one school ranked above them. This past weekend it was the turn of Rondebosch High School. They are number one in the rankings. Rondebosch bowed the knee to Paul Roos by 18 runs.
Paul Roos batted first and after a quick wicket at the start of their innings, Josh Jordaan (32) and Cormey van der Watt (94) took the lead with the bat. These two batsmen took their team to a steady 94/1 before Josh lost his wicket. Van der Watt hit his 94 runs off 96 balls. Among other things, he hit eight fours and two sixes! Cormey was unfortunately caught just short of his 100-tal LBW. After that, the wickets fell quickly, but with the help of Beor van Reenen (20*), Paul Roos’ innings ended on 227/9 (50).
