Portchie’s exhibition. Paul Roos Gymnasium and Investec impressed the Stellenbosch art community in October. They held an exemplary art exhibition. It included an outreach programme by name of “See and Be Seen”. The Paul Roos Cricket Oval accommodated this exhibition inside the newly built Long Room. The long-awaited official opening of the Indoor Cricket Centre takes place in November. The Long Room will once again be an obvious space of celebration. Another special occasion will be celebrated in the Long Room in November. It is the birthday of celebrated Stellenbosch artist and Paul Roos Old Boy, Portchie.
Across the globe, more than a million of his prints have been sold and are appreciated in households and offices. Portchie had more than 80 solo exhibitions, both national and international. The Great 58 Portchie’s Exhibition will be his first solo exhibition in Stellenbosch in eighteen years. “I work with a huge element of joy, which runs through the fibre of my work”, says Portchie. “This exhibition revolves around my 58th birthday. I promise to present you all with something very special”.
The success of the “See and Be Seen” art exhibition proved that the Long Room is the perfect space to host future art exhibitions. It was subsequently specially furnished to serve this purpose in future. The future came sooner than later. Portchie is bringing his special exhibition to the Long Room on 21 November. He will be exhibiting 58 special paintings to celebrate his birthday. He invites fans and art collectors to attend the special opening and one-day-exhibition. Fans may join in the celebrations and explore and purchase their favourite works of art.
Portchie was recently a great thought-provoker and inspiration to learners. They participated in the “See and Be Seen” outreach programme and art exhibition. Paul Roos Gymnasium host this special occasion. Entry is free of charge. Bookings are essential.
