It’s always heart-warming to hear about those past pupils who used their schooling at Union as a stepping stone to full, happy and successful lives.
One such story reached us again this week, that of Old Unionite, Gabriel Nel. Gabriel, who matriculated from Union High School in 2010, is currently serving his community service year as a medical professional at the St Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lusikisiki.
The son of Jenny and Attie Nel of Nieu-Bethesda, Gabriel put in an immense amount of work into getting accepted at the University of Pretoria’s School of Medicine where he recently successfully completed his studies. Gabriel, whose passion is providing specialized care for critically ill or premature infants, is using his newly acquired skillset in the St Elizabeth’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Union takes great pleasure in congratulating him on realising his dream of becoming a doctor and wish him the best of luck for his future.
