New cricket professional appointed. St Andrew’s College, Makhanda/Grahamstown, is thrilled to welcome Zander de Bruyn to St Andrew’s College. He is appointed as the new Cricket Professional. Zander brings a wealth of experience from a distinguished playing and coaching career. As a former Proteas Test cricketer, he has also played over 240 First-Class matches, scored 14,000+ runs, and taken nearly 300 wickets. His career also includes time with the Warriors, Titans, and county teams like Worcestershire, Somerset, and Surrey.
After retiring, Zander transitioned into coaching, leading teams at Höerskool Randburg and Heronbridge College, while also working with the Titans and running his cricket academy. He holds a BCom in Sports Management. Furthermore he is a CSA Level 3 coach, and is certified by Gary Kirsten’s CoachEd Elite programme.
Zander joined St Andrew’s College in March and will coach rugby. He will also lead a winter cricket programme. He’s passionate about mentoring players on and off the field.
Zander is married to Bronwyn, a successful business owner, and they have two children, Logan and Tyler. The family is excited for this new adventure!
With his extensive experience and passion for the game, St Andrews is confident that Zander will also make a significant contribution to our cricket programme.
