Mpumalanga Krieket. Hoërskool Ermelo se tweede krieketspan het op 20 Oktober in die Mpumalanga-finaal teen Hoërskool Nelspruit te staan gekom.
Tydens EHS se kolfbeurt het die paaltjies aanvanklik gereeld geval, maar elke kolwer het ‘n bydrae gelewer tot die lopies wat behaal is. Met die telling op 97/7 met slegs vyf boulbeurte oor, was die Erries onder baie druk om ’n goeie telling op die telbord te plaas. Danksy ’n vennootskap van 60 lopies van slegs 30 balle deur Francois Krige (29*) en Zian Kotze (24*), eindig die Erries hul beurt op 157/7 in die 20 boulbeurte.
Hoërskool Nelspruit kolf tweede en jaag 158 lopies vir ’n oorwinning. Te danke aan akkurate boulwerk en uitstekende veldwerk kon Nelspruit slegs 136 lopies aanteken in hul 20 beurte. Hulle het met nege paaltjies plat geëindig. Adriaan Davel van Erries het uitgeblink met die boulwerk. Hy het ’n boulsyfer van 5/15 in sy vier beurte hehaal!
Die Erries is breëbors oor die tweedespan wat hul krieketseisoen onoorwonne afgesluit het en as nommer een in Mpumalanga geëindig het.
Mpumalanga Cricket
Ermelo High School’s second cricket team faced Nelspruit High School in the Mpumalanga final on 20 October.
During EHS’s batting innings, the wickets initially fell regularly, but each batsman contributed to the runs scored. With the score at 97/7 with only five overs remaining, the Erries were under a lot of pressure to put a good score on the scoreboard. Thanks to a partnership of 60 runs from just 30 balls by Francois Krige (29*) and also Zian Kotze (24*), the Erries ended their innings at 157/7 in the 20 overs.
Nelspruit High School batted second and chased 158 runs for a win. Thanks to accurate bowling and also excellent fielding, Nelspruit could only score 136 runs in their 20 innings. They also finished with the loss of nine wickets. Adriaan Davel of Erries also excelled with the bowling. He bowled 5/15 in his four innings!
The Erries are proud of the second team who finished their cricket season unbeaten and also finished as number one in Mpumalanga.
