Louis Volks Humanitarian Award. Cape Town Student Honored with Prestigious Humanitarian Award.
Kirsten Wyld, a Grade 12 student at Curro Century City, has been honored with the esteemed Louis Volks Humanitarian Award at the Merriman Lions Club’s 60th anniversary celebration. This recognition celebrates her impactful 2024 community initiative, Walk In Dignity. It provided support and dignity to vulnerable individuals across Cape Town.
At just 17 years old, Kirsten may be the youngest recipient of the award to date. This is a milestone that highlights the power of youth-led change. While currently focused on her matric studies, Kirsten has expressed a desire to share this achievement to inspire others.
“This award isn’t just for me,” Kirsten said. “It’s a message to young people everywhere that age is not a barrier. Anyone can make a difference.”
The Merriman Lions Club praised Kirsten’s leadership, compassion, and commitment to social upliftment, noting that her project exemplifies the values of the Award.
