JSE Investment Challenge. Kearsney College Celebrates Young Investors’ National Success.
Kearsney College in KwaZulu-Natal is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of its Grade 10 investment team, Boiler Room. The boys are placed second nationally in the prestigious JSE Investment Challenge.
The team—comprising Blake Rencken, Ryder Jordan, and James Hollins—secured second place in the Schools Equity Portfolio category of the six-month competition, which ran from March to September.
This year’s Challenge saw remarkable participation, with 859 schools entering nearly 18,000 teams and over 66,000 students across various categories. The competition offers high school and tertiary students a simulated trading experience, equipping them with practical financial skills by managing virtual R1-million portfolios and trading JSE-listed instruments under real market conditions.
The college’s Boiler Room team finished just behind the winning team, X Capital, from Ashton International College in Benoni.
