schoolsthatrockHoofdogter 2023. In ons reeks oor skole se hoofleiers vir 2023, gesels Schools That Rock met Lida Pienaar. Lida, Hoofdogter van Hoërskool Bultfontein vir 2023, vertel ons meer van haarself en haar leierskap.
“Ek is ‘n plaasmeisie van die platteland. Ek is ook ‘n koshuiskind met baie waardering vir my vriende. Daar is vir my niks saliger as ‘n sonsondergang in die Vrystaat nie. My gestreepte groen-en-blou baadjie het vir seker al my trots! Ons Afrikaanse onderwyser, Mnr Venter, sê altyd: “Jou balkie beteken niks. Jy gee die balkie waarde.” Jesus het Sy dissipels se voete gewas om te dien. Iemand wat ander bemagtig het. Ek wil dié iemand wees wat ophef. Iemand watleiding neem en ondersteun. Ek wil die leier wees met ‘n positiewe, blywende impak!
My doelwit vir volgende jaar is om geestelik te groei uit al die uitdagings wat voorlê. Ek wil ‘n voorbeeld stel vir ander.
Baie van my doelwitte vir Hoërskool Bultfontein, gedurende my diensjaar, is gebaseer op ons jaartema vir 2023: ‘Droom met ‘n doel ‘. Hoërskool Bultfontein is die plek waar drome begin. My doelwit is dus om leerders te motiveer om daardie drome na te streef. Ons is ‘n skool waar selfs die grootste drome verwesenlik word deur pligsgetroue harde werk.
Uitdagings
My grootste uitdaging as leerder van Hoërskool Bultfontein, is om my dag te beplan en te bestuur sodat ek by alles voluit kan uitkom. My pa se woorde bly my by: “As jy ‘n ding doen, doen dit een keer. Doen dit goed.” Ek wil graag alles aanpak na die beste van my vermoë. Ek misluk soms, maar sien dit as ‘n geleentheid om te leer en daarop te verbeter.
Iets wat sonder twyfel vir my uitstaan by my skool, is Bulties se kameraderi!
My ma is my mentor. Sy is iemand wat haar hart op haar mou dra. Haar lewenswyshede (en preke) is eindeloos, maar so ook haar liefde en omgee vir ander. Sy inspireer my om hard te werk vir wat ek graag in die lewe wil bereik.
As ek ‘n kombuis-artikel moet verteenwoordig, sal dit beslis ‘n “spark” wees. Dit verteenwoordig my besluitloosheid, maar beeld ook my veelsydigheid uit. ‘n “spark” kan enige dis aanpak. Net so is ek bereid om hulp te verleen aan enige persoon wat met ‘n probleem gekonfronteer word.
My vriende
My vriende sal my beskryf as gedrewe, passievol, pligsgetrou, vriendelik, hardwerkend en gaande oor droë grappies.
Wat my inspireer om my doelwitte te bereik, is weereens om te droom, maar te droom met ‘n einddoel in sig. God het ons op aarde geplaas met ‘n spesifieke rede. Ek streef daarna om die beste mens te wees wat God vir my bedoel het om te wees.
Hoërskool Bultfontein is ‘n klein plekkie, maar ‘n klein plekkie met ‘n groot hart. Bulties is ‘n eenheid. Hier staan ons saam. Ek kan boeke vol skryf om leerders aan te raai om deel te vorm van die groen en blou. Wat egter uitstaan is ons omgee vir mekaar. Hoërskool Bultfontein is ‘n skool wat elke leerder ‘n holte vir sy voet vind. Ons is ‘n gemeenskap gewortel in ons waardes.
Juffrou Aletta van Niekerk, Ons Wiskunde en Fisiese Wetenskap onderwyseres, is my gunsteling onderwyser. Sy het ‘n ander manier om vervelige vakke fassinerend te maak. Sy doen nooit minder as haar beste nie. Juffrou Aletta is ook altyd bereid om die ekstra myl vir elke leerder te stap. As jy fyn luister in haar klas, vang jy ‘n subtiele grappie of twee! Sy inspireer ‘n ware liefde vir kennis!
My toekoms-ideale? Ek streef daarna om goeie punte te behaal en steeds op die netbalbaan te wees. Ek streef ook daarna om ondersteuning te bied aan die persone om my. My droom is ook om medies te studeer na skool. Tyd sal leer.”
Head Girl 2023
In our series on schools’ lead leaders for 2023, Schools That Rock talks to Lida Pienaar. Lida, Head Girl of Bultfontein High School for 2023, tells us more about herself and her leadership.
“I’m a farm girl from the countryside. I am also a boarding school kid with a lot of appreciation for my friends. To me, there is nothing more blissful than a sunset in the Free State. My striped green-and-blue jacket has all my pride for sure! Our Afrikaans teacher, Mr Venter, always says: “Your bar means nothing. You give the bar value.” Jesus washed His disciples’ feet to serve. Someone who empowered others. I also want to be the one who fusses. Someone who takes the lead and supports. I want to be the leader with a positive, lasting impact!
My goal for next year is to grow spiritually from all the challenges ahead. I want to set an example for others.
Many of my goals for Bultfontein High School, during my service year, are based on our year of year theme for 2023: ‘Dream with a purpose’. Bultfontein High School is the place where dreams begin. My goal is therefore to motivate learners to pursue those dreams. We are a school where even the biggest dreams are achieved through conscientious hard work.
Biggest challenge
My biggest challenge as a learner of Bultfontein High School is to plan and manage my day so that I can get to everything to the fullest. My father’s words stay with me: “If you do a thing, do it once. Do it well.” I would like to tackle everything to the best of my ability. I fail sometimes, but see it as an opportunity to learn and improve on it.
Something that no doubt stands out to me at my school is Bulties’ camaraderi!
My mother is my mentor. She’s someone who wears her heart on her sleeve. Her ways of life (and sermons) are endless, but so is her love and care for others. She inspires me to work hard for what I would like to achieve in life.
If I have to represent a kitchen article, it would definitely be a “spark”. It represents my indecision, but also portrays my versatility. A “spark” can tackle any dish. Similarly, I am willing to provide assistance to any person faced with a problem.
My friends
My friends would describe me as driven, passionate, conscientious, kind, hardworking and raving about dry jokes.
What inspires me to achieve my goals is, once again to dream, but to dream with an end goal in sight. God placed us on earth for a specific reason. I strive to be the best person God intended me to be.
Bultfontein High School is a small place, but a small place with a big heart. Bulties are a unit. Here we stand together. I can write books full to advise learners to be part of the green and blue. What stands out, though, is we care about each other. Bultfontein High School is a school that every learner finds a hollow for his foot. We are a community rooted in our values.
Miss Aletta van Niekerk, Our Mathematics and Physical Science teacher, is my favourite teacher. She has another way of making boring subjects fascinating. She never does less than her best. Miss Aletta is also always willing to go the extra mile for each learner. If you listen closely in her class, you catch a subtle joke or two! She inspires a true love of knowledge!
My future goals? I strive to get good marks and still be on the netball court. I also strive to provide support to the persons around me. My dream is also to study medicine after school. Time will tell.”
