Head Girl 2025. Like we did the past years, schoolsthatrock chat to the Head Leaders of High Schools in South Africa this year. Today we talk to Gemma Allchin, Head Girl 2025 of Creston College, Oslo Beach KwaZulu Natal.
“As Head Girl 2025, I am looking forward to building lifelong leadership skills as well as making meaningful relationships. I am also looking forward to working with a team who aims to better our beautiful school, a place that we all call home.
This year, I am aiming to achieve my own personal goals such as learning to become more comfortable with public speaking… which has never been something I have had the opportunity to participate in. I am also hopeful that I can become a person who walks with grace, elegance and knowledge whilst being able to guide and inspire those who are around me. In terms of leading my school, I plan on being an approachable leader who showcases integrity. I will be there to guide each and every learner where possible and to provide them with a sense of comfort and hope.
Creston College has many qualities that stand out to me. That include their dedication to academics, family orientation, educators always available for assistance and going the extra mile.
Adjustments/changes I would like to see happen at my school? I would like to see my school develop the learner mentorship program further.
Persuading someone to make my school their choice of school, I would say that I have attended many schools in my lifetime and that there is truly nowhere that has felt more like home than Creston College.
I believe that my strongest leadership trait is empathy/ discipline.
I believe that each and every prefect should feel valued and appreciated in order to be fully committed. We will work together to make sure that everybody’s unique voices are heard and the best possible solutions are found through inclusivity. This is the way I will get collaboration from my team.
I look up most to my amazing parents. They have always been successful people who simultaneously give back to the community.
What I am daydreaming about? I often daydream about the future and the many possibilities that lies ahead of me.
My favourite dish? I would say a margherita pizza.
If I were a kitchen article I would be a blender – using already perfect ingredients to make a masterpiece.
My favourite career? I would like to study a Bcom Management Science or International Business at Stellenbosch University. I would also love to be able to study a International Business at the University of Cape Town.
