Head Boys 2023. In our series on schools’ Head Boys ’23, Schools That Rock chat with Marubini Mulaudzi. Marubini, Head Boy for 2023 of Curro Aurora, tells us more about himself and his leadership.
“My name is Marubini Mulaudzi, and I am the Curro Aurora 2023 head boy. I excel in the dramatic arts…I am an Actor, and I am also able to design, dance etc. However, I also play rugby and I am big on the execution of the schools’ spirit or rather the blue pride. It is within us as Curro Aurora students, however, my leadership is executed best on what I think would benefit others in the best way possible.
My personal goal for next year is to genuinely work on myself internally and externally. Internally in the sense of what is best and most suitable for my sanity and religious beliefs. Externally in achieving everything that I have planned for and things that will benefit me in the future.
My goals for Curro Aurora is to better the culture of the school. I also want to make it an enjoyable place of excitement for every student, teacher and our other lovely people that help us at school. This include the cleaners, workers and gardeners. I also want to bring activities such as Mass bunks, South African war cries and even create a platform where students can come support their fellow schoolmates at sports or cultural events. Furthermore I want every parent or teacher, etc, to be able to have pride in the saying of our school’s name, Curro Aurora.
Biggest challenge
The biggest challenge I personally faced as an individual is attempting to balance by academic life. Along with playing sports and participating in cultural activities. I also want to be able to try make my parents proud as a school learner and trying to live my life as individual being.
What stands out most to me at Curro Aurora, is the ability of the learners being able to come together when it is time and work together well. Also to be honest so an external being would probably think we are being forced to work the way we work. But no, we somehow just know how to put our personal problems aside and work respectfully with each other when it is time. I guess it is because we have some sort of common interest in always wanting to work towards achieving the best results possible.
In terms of inspiration, I look up to myself and what I imagine as to what I know I will achieve one day. Yes, I do know it sounds cliché but other than my parents and religious beliefs I look up to myself because I have worked so hard for what I have yet acquired.
Me being a kitchen article
I am not quite sure about kitchen articles, but I would probably be a Woolworths food magazine. They just make everything look appetizing and everything looks like it is in order.
I think my friends will describe me as a special character. But in terms of a more formal approach, I am a passionate, motivated and a confident leader. I build community with my cheerful disposition and relentless determination. However, I often get frustrated by exhaustive details.
What motivates me to achieve my goals, is the ability to live in my own world. Knowing I worked hard for everything that I own, and to be the best version of myself entirely so.
I would advise learners to become a part of my school because they will have access to a broad aspect of passions. The staff is just amazing. All together with how the school probably has the funniest people you will ever meet in a lifetime.
Mrs Saskia Snyders is my favourite teacher. She plays a huge role as to why I am and where I am today. She helped me with my character development and how to work towards the best of my abilities.
My future goals are to get accepted into AFDA film college so that I can complete a bachelors in the arts of motion picture medium. Hopefully travel to the United States within the next two years to intern and get the best job experience.
