Head Boy 2025 – Curro Vanderbijlpark

Head Boy 2025. LIke we did the past years, schoolsthatrock chat with the Head leaders of High Schools in South Africa. Today we chat with Siyamdumisa Mabena, Head Boy 2025 of Curro Vanderbijlpark.

“What I am looking forward mostly as Head Boy 2025 of Curro Vanderbijlpark during my leadership year, is Collaborating with my team. We have to leave a meaningful legacy by organizing and participating in school initiatives and events that inspire change, foster passion, and instill pride.

My goal for myself and for the school is striving to be an effective leader. I want to work efficiently with my team while promoting values of trust, pride, and open communication. We should do that not only among ourselves but throughout the school. I also aim to help our school solidify its identity as Curro Vanderbijlpark and establish a strong foundation that reflects our values and aspirations.

The quality of our school that stands out the most is cultivating a strong sense of pride and individuality.

Minor changes I would like to see be implemented at our school, is to encourage greater learner engagement. This is especially needed in school events and initiatives.

I believe persuasion of somebody to make Curro Vanderbijlpark the school of choice isn’t necessary. The school speaks for itself, and learners can make their own choices based on what they see and experience.

Strongest leadership trait

My strongest leadership trait is that I excel at understanding and meeting the needs of others while recognizing the responsibility that comes with my role.

I get commitment from my team by building a healthy relationship that prioritizes respect and trust.

The person I am looking up to mostly, is my mother. As I grow older, I deeply admire her commitment, patience, love, and the hard work she has invested in balancing a career while raising three children.

What I am daydreaming about, is a house at the coast overlooking the ocean.

My favourite dish is a thick-base pepperoni pizza.

I am undecided about my future career, but if I had to choose, I would pursue actuarial science at the University of Cape Town.
