In true Glenwood tradition two of the Glenwood Cross country runners showed true Glenwood heart this weekend.
On Friday afternoon after school, they ran 4,6km cross country at Giba Gorge in the clash against Grey College. Luke van As finished seconed in the senior event while Brenton Tallon finished third in junior event.
On Saturday the Durban Central Schools Cross Country trials were held at UKZN. Brenton’s race was at 10am which clashed with his U14B hockey match against Grey so he offered to play for the u 14 C team at 8. After playing his hockey match he rushed over to UKZN to run his 4km race where he managed an excellent 2nd place.
Luke determined to play what may be his last rugby match for Glenwood, played the first half of the 5th XV rugby game before rushing to complete his 8km race at UKZN at 11:55. Luke on very tired legs only managed a 6th place but won the admiration of many for his commitment.
We wish the following boys, who have been selected for the Umlazi District trials on 16th August, all the best:
Luke van As U19
Lesedi Goge and Tristan Joubert U17
Andile Ngcobo U15
