Girl Engineering. Sonali Arjun is a Grade 10 learner from Curro Waterfall, Midrand. Sonali won first place for best innovation at the GIRLENG Technovation Camp. The camp was held from 29 March to 1 April in Johannesburg.
Sonali was one of thirty girls selected to attend the camp. The camp was for high potential Grade 9 – 11 high school girls. The girls have to be interested in pursuing a career in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The GirlEng Technovation Camp provides insights from female engineering students and professionals. They learn the basics of coding and participate in robotics workshops. Furthermore they learn about other future technologies.
The camp was a 4-day active learning workshop. It aimed to get girls to start thinking and acting like engineers.
