Free State Junior Rugby. St Andrew’s School, Bloemfontein, is very proud of their rugby players selected for Free State Junior Rugby. St Andrews has eight Junior Free State Rugby representatives playing in various teams.
The boys are: Janre Steenbok (U13B), Trezeguet Hawkins (U13B), Hermes Chen (U12A), Unam Mradla (U13A), Rayhaan Fitz (U12A). Kamoza Kioko (U13B), Rayhaan Fitz (U12A), Adrin Smiles (U12A), Levi Jacobs(U12A).
The school attributes this success to their Junior Integrated Sports Programme. The programme has been run at the Junior School for the past year and a half. The programme ensures that every junior school boy has an hour of outside sports each day during the school morning. During this time, coaches facilitate sports skills, ball games and fitness, all in a fun way. “We aim to instil a love of sport, fitness and health into the boys from an early age,” says the Headmaster, Mr Roland Rudd. “Our sport programmes took on a different format during the pandemic so, although we could not play matches, our boys benefitted greatly from the skills development during class time. ”We are proud of these boys and Mr Vuyisa Ndzipo, who has been chosen as the Free State U13A team manager.”
