Eastern Cape Athletics championships. During the weekend of the 14th to 16th March the annual Eastern Cape Athletics championships were held in Komani. All the top schools from the Eastern Cape were represented. The athletes competed against the clock and measuring tapes trying to get a spot on the Eastern Cape team. The Eastern Cape team will compete at the National Athletics Championships meeting in Bloemfontein in April.
Despite the terrible weather, the athletes did very well and the school congratulate the following athletes with their achievements.
Gold Medals:
- Chris Weits, boys u/17 10mkW in a time of 55:38.29s.
- Denzil Jacobs, boys u/17 110mH with a time of 15,43s.
Silver Medals:
- Emihle Ndamane, women u/19 LJ with a distane of 5.08m.
- Tshegofatso Khasipe, women u/19 HJ with a height of 1,50m.
- Lutho Silele men u/19 for the 4x100m relay.
Bronze Medals:
- Lehakwe Holomo, boys u/15 200m with a time of 23,15s.
- Yomelela Sibutha boys /17 110mH in 15.80s.
- Kwezi Ntlombe boys u/14 LJ with a distance of 5,19m.
- Petra Kok women u/19 100m in a time of 13,15s.
4th Places:
- Ntando Nkomana, boys u/15 400m (54,73s)
- Catherine van Aardt women u/19 5000m(19:42.04s)
- Lehakwe Holomo, boys u/15 100m (11,68s). Rize Christensen women u/19 High Jump(1,45m). Sipho Bonongo boys u/17 400mH (61,69s).
The following athletes qualified to represent the Eastern Cape team at the National meeting.
