Easter Rugby Festival 2026 – Milnerton High vs EG Jansen

Easter Rugby Festival 2026. Day one, match five. Milnerton High vs Dr EG Jansen.

Dr EG Jansen struck first in their mid-afternoon clash on Stott Field, right-wing Werner Breydenbach breaking through a tackle on the tryline to hand Jansies a 5–0 lead after sustained possession. Milnerton hit back almost immediately: flyhalf Chadlin Sellidon sliced through the defense with a couple of sharp side-steps before finishing in the right-hand corner.

The set scrums belonged to EG Jansen, who had Millies under pressure. That dominance paid off when they forced a turnover from a Milnerton feed, allowing Ewan Pretorius to power over from close range for a 10–5 advantage. Nine minutes before halftime, Jaco Engelbrecht intercepted a loose Milnerton pass and sprinted clear for Jansies’ third try.

Milnerton responded well when the game opened up. After spilling a near-certain score, they regrouped and flank Yenga Moangeli crossed to narrow the gap. Moments before the break, tighthead prop Kyle Janse van Rensburg added another in the corner. Sellidon’s conversion attempt clipped the upright and bounced over — the first successful kick of the day — giving Milnerton a 17–15 halftime lead.

Ten minutes into the second half, EG Jansen reclaimed the advantage. Inside centre Dian Botha crashed over beneath the posts and converted his own try to make it 22–17. Milnerton refused to fold, nearly producing a length-of-the-field effort and continuing to press. Sellidon’s penalty from the 10-metre line — the first successful penalty of the festival — cut the deficit to 22–20.

But the final word belonged to EG Jansen. With four minutes left, Liam Hector stepped off his left foot and dotted down in the corner for a decisive 27–20 lead. Botha’s last-gasp penalty attempt drifted wide, leaving Jansies seven-point winners.
