Curro Waterfall. Curro Waterfall, Midrand, held their first matric dance on 27 June. Camilla Pretorius, Head of High School talks to Schools That Rock about the school’s first ever matric dance.
“This has been the highlight of our schooling career. Being the group who experience the first of everything at Curro Waterfall, the standard for the matric dance have been set for years to come. Our guest speaker was Bolele Polisa, two times Award Winning Radio Presenter and 94.7 freelance presenter. She indeed inspired our learners with her words of encouragement.
Our Grade 11 learners were also invited to the Matric Dance as the paparazzi. Four learners were chosen as the welcoming committee. They made sure the guests of honours were announced when they got out of the various luxury cars, welcomed with a cheer on the red carpet. The current Grade 11s are, without a doubt, anticipating having theirs next year.
Aim of matric dance
The aim of the matric dance was especially to help us after the midyear examinations. This gave the learners something cheerful to celebrate the halfway mark of the final year. We celebrated all our learners that have persevered through the last few years of Covid-19. With the preliminary exams slowly approaching, our Grade 12s are working hard to ensure we get 100% matric pass rate. Seeing that this is the first class of Matric, we are aiming to achieve at least a 90% bachelor’s degree pass. Learners are currently busy with Winter School and dates have been set for Spring Revision Campus as well.
The 2022 Grade 12 group is our first group to complete Grade 12 in Curro Waterfall. It is important that we set the bar for the next groups. We also need to ensure our school’s reputations is uphold in the Waterfall/Midrand community. At this time we have three candidates that are working extremely hard to achieve distinctions in all of their subjects.
