Curro Cricket. This week saw both their Under 14 and First XI cricket teams play in their respective WPNS 50 over league finals.
The under 14 cricket lads came up against a very strong Durbanville High School side. On the day it was raining and not very pleasant. Curro went in to bat first. They set a target of 187 before being bowled out. Caleb Jonkers (63 off 92 balls) and Thaafir Samsodien (44 off 76 balls) put together an excellent 100 run partnership during the innings. Durbanville started their innings off really well. Unfortunately rain made play complicated. With Durbanville on 152/8, the umpires had to revert to using the duckworth Lewis system to determine an outcome. Curro was declared the winners on run rate.
The First XI cricket boys played a day/night final against Fairmont High School. Spirits were high (probably because exams were done) and the boys definitely brought their game faces to the match. Fairmont won the toss and elected to bat first. Excellent bowling and fielding from Curro’s boys saw them restricted to 108/10 after 35 overs. Curro came in to bat and chased the score down in just 21 overs with the loss of only two wickets. Curro won the game by eight wickets. Neo Petersen scored a good 51 off 67 balls. Daiyaan Saal was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3 for 24 in 8 overs. Curro is extremely proud of their high school teams for their outstanding season.
2022 Is going to be exciting.
