Chess Tournament. On the 23rd of October, the Western Cape Schools Individual chess tournament took place at Swartberg Secondary school in Caledon. More than 150 players from across the Western Cape (Eden, Overberg, Cape Winelands, Metro and West Coast) competed. They played for their Western Province colours and to be chosen for the Western Cape team. They will compete at the National South African Schools Tournament.
The top 7 players from each age group were selected to be part of their respective team. Curro Hermanus was proudly represented by Francois Scholtz (Grade 4), Connor Opperman(Grade 5), Jodi Bucchianeri (Grade 7) and Ethan Higham (Grade 9).
After a tough five rounds Connor, Jodi and Ethan were selected to represent the Western Cape at the National South African Schools chess championship.
