ChristoDrew Goldie, who will be in Matric at Camps Bay High School in 2021, has had an art piece that she made for the #800Lions Campaign selected to be part of the Blood Lions billboard campaign.
Blood Lion Campaign Billboards, calling for the end of the captive lion breeding industry in South Africa, are now live along highways in Johannesburg and Durban.
The #800Lions movement called for the submission of art in different forms in order to represent the more recent legal lion bone quota in South Africa, which was 800 skeletons. Blood Lions is calling on South Africa to set a ZERO lion bone quota.
Drew, along with her fellow classmate, Sebastain Byrnes, have been advocating for the rights of Big Cats for past 5 years and through their Big Cat Youth Collection, a unique range of handmade big cats, they have raised over R120 000 for the various ethical Big Cat Sanctuaries they support over the years.
The original art piece that Drew created for the #800Lions Campaign has been gifted to Savannah Heuser, the 23 year old founder and owner of Waterberg Wildlife Rescue. Both Drew and Sebastian have volunteered at Waterberg Wildlife Rescue since 2016.
