Camps Bay High School recently hosted an awards assembly to honour the top Academic, Sports, Culture and Service achievers in the Grade.
Said Camps Bay High School principal, Mr Dave de Korte, “We are very proud of all that our incredible Class of 2020 Matriculants have accomplished over this very challenging year, and the other years they have spent at Camps Bay High School. Our school is known for its wonderful year end Celebration which normally involves celebrating all the achievements of all the learners in the school but due to Covid-19 protocols, we had to change things up a bit this year an host an assembly for the Matric learners and their parents only.”
Some of the highlights from the Awards Assembly were as follows:
- Academic Colours, 10th in Grade: Justine Garde
- Academic Colours, 9th in Grade: Tyrese Jones
- Academic Colours, 8th in Grade: Cleo Sirin
- Academic Colours, 7th in Grade: Alaya Ashby
- Academic Colours, 6th in Grade: Kirstyn Smith – and the subject prize Geography
- Academic Colours, 5th in Grade: Ronaldo Da Silva – and subject prizes for Dace Studies and Economics
- Academic Colours, 4th in Grade: Hannah O’Connor – and subject prize for Mathematical Literacy and the Centennial Cup for Literacy and Numeracy.
- Academic Honours, 3rd in Grade: Amicah Evans – the subject prize for Dramatic Arts and the Trophy for the best Gr12 Drama learner. Average (over 3 terms) 89,79%.
- Academic Honours, 2nd in Grade: Grace van Heerden – subject prizes for: History (shared), Life Orientation (shared) and Life Sciences. Average (over 3 terms) 92,14%.
- Academic Honours, 1st in Grade: Francois Kemp – subject prizes for Accounting, Mathematics, Tha Mary Jenner cup for Mathematics, The Coopers and Lybrand Award for the best combined achievement in Accounting and Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Music, English, The Allice Jenner Cup for English, Afrikaans, The George Weideman Trophy for Afrikaans and Life Orientation (shared). Average (over 3 terms) 96,36%.

Camps Bay High School’s 2020 Head Prefect, Amava Mkuku, also scooped many of the more Prestigious Awards, including:
- The Russell Kaplan Trophy for Social Awareness
- The Lions Service Trophy for Outstanding Service to the School
- The Principal’s Trophy for Head Prefect
- The 1961 Matric Honour Trophy (voted for by the Matric Class)
- The 1989 Matric Trophy for Outstanding Leadership
