ATKV Steeksfees/ Regional Festival.
In Jacques Bessenger se eie woorde: “I really enjoyed your show like I truly laughed out of my stomach at times. Dit is omdat julle sulke great comedy actors is. Dis vir my so inspiring to see such great talent on stage.”
Toekennings
- Me.

Eagles Perform
On 23 August, fifteen Strand High School learners participated in the Western Cape ATKV Regional Festival. No fewer than 21 productions entered the regional festival. Jacques Bessenger and Ludwig Binge acted as judges and mentors.
In Jacques Bessenger’s own words: “I really enjoyed your show like I truly laughed out of my stomach at times. That’s because you guys are such great comedy actors. It’s so inspiring to me to see such great talent on stage.”
Ludwig Binge was equally generous with his feedback: “It was and it’s a compliment, it was delightfully… it was wack. It felt like a Monty Python movie. What impressed me most is that you were able to get High School teenagers to understand that style. They get irony and it’s pretty rare for untrained performers, but you really have a naturally strong gifted ‘groupie’ with incredible comedic timing.”
Awards
The acting crew was rewarded with the following awards for their hard work:
- Clint Williams: Bronze for acting
- Lee-Ann Taljaard and Armin du Plessis: Silver for acting
- Danelie Pienaar: Silver for stage management
- Ms. W. Theart: Silver for directing
- Pierre van Schalkwyk: Silver for the script
- Anne Swart and Vincent Kruger: Gold for acting
- Clint Williams, Miche Young, Vincent Kruger, Anne Black, Armin du Plessis, Lee-Ann Taljaard and Nathan Nel: Gold for ensemble play.
The “road workers”, Danelie Pienaar, Micheal Heyns, Franko Stevens, Rohan Bezuidenhout, Cloete de Jager and Kaitlin Hughes joined the acting team only three weeks before the performance. So they were also from the Ensemble team.
Although the team did not make it through to the final round, the stage manager, Danelie Pienaar, the ensemble team as well as Anne Swart and Vincent Kruger nominated for awards. Vincent Kruger, however, walked away with the laurels during the awards ceremony when he was nominated as the Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
These Eagles have shown that talent supported by good discipline and hardworking leads to achievement. Strand High School is proud of its performers.
