Africa Aquatics Championships. Leila Yazbek, African Junior Champion!
Eunice High School is bursting with pride as Leila Yazbek has made history at the Africa Aquatics Championships in Oran, Algeria (5–10 May), representing the with extraordinary success.
Leila brought home an incredible nine medals — 4 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze — cementing her place as one of Africa’s brightest young swimming stars.
Individual Triumphs
Leila was crowned African Junior Champion in three events:
- 200 Breaststroke
- 200 Individual Medley (IM)
- 100 Butterfly
She also added:
- Silver in the 400 IM and 100 Breaststroke
- Bronze in the 200 Freestyle
That’s a magnificent six individual medals (3 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze)!
Relay Glory
Leila’s teamwork shone just as brightly, contributing to South Africa’s relay victories:
- 🥇 Gold: Women’s 4 × 200 Freestyle
- 🥈 Silver: Mixed 4 × 100 Freestyle
- 🥉 Bronze: Women’s 4 × 100 Freestyle
Both the South African Junior and Senior teams won their sections — a testament to the strength of the squads and to Leila’s vital role in them.
