St Charles College host and entertain their Grade 6 visitors for the much anticipated and highly enjoyable Grade 6 Open Weekend 2022. Grade 8 hopefuls (2024) from afar afield as Cape Town and Johannesburg, descended on the campus recently for this event.

This St Charles College immersive experience also takes the visitors through all that this wonderful school has to offer in an action-packed 24-hours. The visitors get to experience activities which include academics, culture and sport. As an added bonus, also get to interact with the amazing staff along their journey. The prefects function as hosts, assisting the Grade 6s from the moment they arrive until their departure after lunch on day two.

On day one and shortly after the official welcome, the boys move through three activities. It see them experiencing the Grade 11 band and the music department, a Prefect leadership activity and certainly the highlight of the evening, origami with the principal.

Day two and the boys wake to a Prefect lead chapel service, followed by activities which include making slime in the science classroom, maths quizzes, blow-darts and the construction of the highest tyre-tower on the main rugby field. All-in-all a most memorable and busy time on the campus.

“At the official welcome to the Open weekend, one of my requests is that the visitors to our school get to experience St Charles College, and this they did. The other objective is that they make friends, and judging from the departure smiles and high-fives, it was clear we had met this objective.

I look forward to these young men becoming a part of our SCC Senior School family in 2024!” – Mr Dean Riley (Marketing Manager).
