St Charles College 2020 Senior Primary Recognition Ceremony was as unique a ceremony as the year 2020 has been. With the Grade 7 boys and their parents being the only guests in the Chapel, the guest list online broadened to include friends of the College from around the world. The live stream was watched by the Grade 4, 5 and 6 boys from their classrooms, with prize-winners walking down the aisle to receive their awards from the Deputy Principal, Mr Graham Stewart-Burger.
Representatives of the Grade 7 Class shared words of welcome, a scripture reading, prayer and a story about facing the “mountains”. Musical items interspersed between proceedings added much to the celebratory tone of the morning.
St Charles College are grateful to their Grade 7 Class of 2020 for the very special gift of a gate to be positioned at the new entrance to the Senior Primary. The sentiments of the boys expressed in a plaque to be positioned alongside the gate, captures an important message to boys entering their Senior Primary years: “As you pass through these gates, compete your hardest, dream your biggest and be your greatest.”
The Recognition Ceremony capped a year of hard work and determined effort by the boys and teachers. 2020 will be remembered for many outstanding moments that together culminated in a year in which they have much to be thankful for. – Mr Brett Sliedrecht (Head of Senior Primary)
