Highly Competitive Hockey. Kearsney College 1st XI vs Michaelhouse 1st XI ends 1–1.
Kearsney College hosted Michaelhouse on Saturday, 9 May, in a highly competitive and entertaining fixture on the Mason Astro.
Michaelhouse arrived brimming with confidence after their impressive victory over Hilton College the previous weekend, and they began with real intensity. The visitors set the tone early, applying pressure and earning a penalty corner in the opening stages. They also capitalized with a well-executed deflection to take a 1–0 lead.
Both teams then settled into the contest, producing promising attacking opportunities through structured build-up play. Kearsney responded positively and earned a series of penalty corners. After two unsuccessful attempts, the third variation paid off when Dylan Forbes delivered an excellent drag flick into the bottom corner to level the scores at 1–1.
The remainder of the match was evenly contested. Both sides enjoyed periods of possession and created several circle entries and penalty corner chances in search of a decisive breakthrough. Michaelhouse looked particularly dangerous on the counterattack, while Kearsney showed composure and creativity in their build-up, manipulating space effectively to generate attacking opportunities.
Defensively, both teams were disciplined and committed, with strong structures and determined tackling preventing either side from finding a winner. The fixture concluded in a hard-fought 1–1 draw.
