Easter Rugby Festival 2026. Day one, match 2. With the morning dew quickly burned away by the sun, handling improved, and spectators were treated to a fiercely contested clash between Hoërskool Transvalia and Zimbabwe’s Peterhouse in the second game of the Kearsney Easter Rugby Festival 2026 on Thursday morning, 2 April.
Peterhouse struck first against the run of play. Turning over possession deep inside their own 22, left wing Munashe Masamha launched a thrilling break down the flank before sending outside center Russell Musekiwa away for the opening try.
Buoyed by the score, Peterhouse enjoyed a greater share of territory and kept Transvalia’s defence busy with quick ball movement out wide.
Transvalia regrouped, however, and hit back from close range. Hooker Aldo Fourie powered over from a lineout drive, with flyhalf Chester MacCamel adding the conversion to edge the Vanderbijlpark side ahead.
Just before halftime, lock Jeanré Barnard crashed over after sustained pressure. Although the conversion attempt struck the upright, Transvalia carried a 12–5 lead into the break.
The decisive moment came late in the second half. An overthrow at a Peterhouse lineout five meters out fell kindly for tighthead prop Damian van Heerden, who stretched over despite heavy pressure. Replacement kicker Jaydee Maree slotted the extras.
Moments later, MacCamel produced one of the highlights of the day. Beating a defender with a fend, he cut inside and finished under the posts after a dazzling run. Maree converted again, sealing a 26–5 victory for Transvalia.
Final Score: Transvalia 26 – 5 Peterhouse.
