School Boy Cricket. 🏏 Kearsney College vs Michaelhouse: Cricket Thriller Ends in Draw.
Kearsney College travelled to face a confident Michaelhouse side on Saturday, fresh off an unbeaten run at the prestigious Michaelmas Cricket Week. Winning the toss, Kearsney opted to bowl first—and made an immediate impact.
Bowling Brilliance. Litha Gonya set the tone early with a superb spell, conceding just 23 runs in his full quota. Though he claimed only one wicket, his control and consistency kept the pressure on. Michaelhouse captain Ethan Muir showed resilience with a brisk 25, but Kearsney’s disciplined bowling and sharp fielding had the hosts in deep trouble at 71 for 9.
Moodley Magic. Rivan Moodley continued his fine form, bagging 4 wickets for just 20 runs. However, a defiant last-wicket stand between Radhesh Jhilmeet (37* not out) and Liam O’Dwyer (19) added 58 crucial runs, lifting Michaelhouse to a total of 129 before being bowled out.
Momentum Shift. Kearsney’s reply began under pressure during a tricky 40-minute pre-lunch session, losing Moodley for a duck in the fifth over. But after the break, Keegan de Jager (58* not out) and Jason de Gryse (30* not out) steadied the innings and turned the tide. At 84/1 after 24 overs, Kearsney looked poised for a strong finish.
🌩️ Weather Woes. Just as the visitors seized control, a lightning alarm halted play. Unfortunately, conditions didn’t improve, and under schoolboy cricket regulations, the match was declared a draw.
