DPL Hockey League. Five talented Grantleigh High School students recently showcased their skills in the prestigious DPL Hockey League, held in Durban. Following a rigorous draft process, Shreya Harbins, Skye du Pisane, Mieke Fox, and Alex Dell were selected by some of KwaZulu-Natal’s top coaches to join newly formed teams for two weekends of intensive training and competitive matches.
Renowned for featuring the province’s elite youth players, the DPL offered these learners invaluable exposure to high-level hockey. They embraced the challenge with determination and flair, proudly representing their school on a provincial stage.
In the U14 division, Skye du Pisane and Mieke Fox delivered a standout performance. They finished as runners-up after a tense penalty shootout in the final. Meanwhile, Izzy Currie celebrated a championship win with her Rebels team in the U16 category. This is her second DPL title following her U14 triumph last year.
The DPL experience proved to be a powerful platform for growth, learning, and self-discovery. These young athletes’ achievements reflect the dedication, resilience, and sporting excellence that Grantleigh continues to foster in its students.
