World Water Monitoring Day. The Department of Water and Sanitation, held a competition for learners in South African schools. The competition was held in participation with the World Water Monitoring day.
This competition is open to learners studying Maths and Physical Science. The competition is mostly for grade 11 learners. Two grade 10 learners of Point High School in Mossel Bay, also participated in the Aqua Enduro competition. These two brave ladies are Maia Leonard and Taylor Abrahams. The theme of the competition is water quality.
The two girls also had to make a poster on the Importance of Water Quality. They also had to and do a presentation to the officials of the Department of Water and Sanitation. After the presentation they went into an interview. They were also tested on their knowledge of water and sanitation. They had to indicate how they would promote water quality and World Water Monitoring day in schools.
Maia Leonard was chosen to be part of the Provincial Team. She and five other learners from the Western Cape will represent the Western Cape at the national competition. The National competition will take place in Gauteng during the October holidays.
Both girls made Point High School proud!
