World Modern Pentathlon Championships. St Dominics Newcastle Learner Earns Protea Colours and Heads to World Championships
St Dominic’s Newcastle is proud to celebrate a remarkable sporting achievement. Grade 11 learner Abigale Meineke has been selected to represent South Africa at the upcoming World Championships. It takes place in Mossel Bay this December.
Earlier this month, Abigale competed for Team KwaZulu-Natal in the Modern Pentathlon (Biathle – run, swim, run) at the South African Championships held in Nelspruit. Her outstanding performance, marked by exceptional athleticism, determination, and skill, earned her the prestigious Protea Colours. It is an important milestone in her sporting journey.
The Biathle event also demands versatility, endurance, and unwavering focus—qualities Abigale has consistently demonstrated throughout her training and competitions. Balancing her academic responsibilities with a rigorous training schedule, she also continues to inspire her peers with her dedication and drive.
“Abigale’s perseverance and commitment truly reflect the values we uphold at St Dominics Newcastle,” said Mrs Shirley McGhee, Executive Head. “Her achievement is a testament to what can be accomplished through passion, discipline, and hard work.”
Abigale will now join South Africa’s top athletes on the international stage this December, proudly representing both her school and province.
St Dominics Newcastle extends its heartfelt congratulations to Abigale on this incredible accomplishment and wishes her every success as she prepares for the World Championships.
