Wildeklawer Makhanda Schools Cricket – St Andrew’s College Cricket Report.
1st XI Match vs St Alban’s College
The St Andrew’s College 1st XI opened their 2026 season with a hard-fought draw against St Alban’s College on Lower, in their first fixture of the Wildeklawer Makhanda Schools’ Cricket Festival.
Electing to bat first, College lost two early wickets before Rhys Wiblin and Tom Lake steadied the innings with a composed partnership that put the side in a strong position. Both fell after promising starts. A flurry of wickets left the lower order under pressure. However, Ethan Malan and Adrian Gaunt combined for a crucial stand, enabling College to declare at 228/9.
St Alban’s replied positively, but a sharp spell from Warrick Campbell (2/12) and two wickets from Rhys Wiblin checked their progress. With wickets falling regularly, St Alban’s were forced to play defensively and closed on 152/7. The match ended in a draw.
Today, the 1st XI face St David’s Inanda.
