Water Polo Victory. Kearsney College U14A Crowned Champions at Rondebosch Water Polo Tournament.
Kearsney College’s U14A water polo team delivered a thrilling performance to clinch the championship title at the prestigious Rondebosch Boys’ High School tournament, held in Cape Town. The young athletes showcased resilience, skill, and teamwork throughout the event. They culminated in a decisive 8–5 victory over the tournament favorites, SACS, in the final.
The road to glory was anything but smooth. After suffering a tough 4–9 defeat to SACS in their opening match, the Kearsney boys regrouped and launched an impressive comeback campaign. They went on to defeat the host school, Rondebosch, 8–3. They were then followed by a dominant 7–0 win over Affies. Then followed a nail-biting 3–2 triumph against Grey High School, and a hard-fought 6–4 victory over Grey College.
In the knockout stages, Kearsney edged past Bishops 7–6 in a tense quarterfinal clash. Then held their nerve in a dramatic semifinal against Wynberg, winning 11–10 to book their place in the final.
The final match was a true showcase of determination and tactical brilliance, as Kearsney overturned their earlier loss to SACS with a commanding performance that sealed their championship status.
This victory not only marks a milestone for the U14A squad but also reflects the strength of Kearsney’s water polo program and the promising talent emerging from KwaZulu-Natal.
