schoolsthatrockUnion Preparatory School’s Grade 4s were treated to a 3-day excursion in and around Jeffreys Bay last week.
The learners set off bright and early on Monday morning, 21 October, with their first stop being the VWSA plant in Uitenhage. Here the learners enjoyed an informative tour through the factory as well as a sneak peek into the history and evolution of Volkswagen at the AutoPavilion – Volkswagen’s on-site automotive museum and expo centre.
After having spent their first night in Jeffreys Bay, the learners started their day on Tuesday morning by reading special letters written by their parents on the beach.
A fun day at Bushpig Adventures in Port Elizabeth followed, with the learners participating in a variety of team-building exercises.
On Wednesday, their last day of the excursion, the learners paid a visit to SANCCOB – Port Elizabeth’s marine bird rehabilitation and education centre situated in the Cape Recife Nature Reserve. Here, the learners could tour the marine rehab and education centre, where they had the opportunity to see the rescued marine life and learn about these fascinating creatures.
The centre focuses on marine birds, in particular, African penguins that hail from nearby St. Croix island, home to the largest breeding colony of African penguins in the world.
The learners participated in a beach clean-up to conclude their visit to the sanctuary.
