Jordan Maritz, a Grade 3 learner at Union Preparatory School, Graaff-Reinet, was this week recognised by the school for his recent outstanding performance on the cricket field.
Jordan, who plays for the school’s u/9 cricket team, received the ‘Man of the Match’ award for a fixture played against the Frans Conradie Primary School on Saturday, 22 February. In addition to scoring his first 50, Jordan also carried the bat for the 30-over match, which means that he, literally, faced the first ball of the match and was still batting when the last wicket fell!
