Local entrepreneur Tessa O’Halloran, recently paid Union High School in Graaff-Reinet a visit to launch a recycling initiative at the school.
Tessa, who founded a small business called plasticity, after experimenting with different ways to re-use plastic bags, is making inroads into the recycled and upcycled market with innovative bags made mainly from unwanted plastic grocery bags.
During her visit to the school, Tessa challenged Union’s learners to collect plastic grocery bags, which she will then use to create her striking bags.
In this ongoing project, the learner who donates the most bags in the designated timeframe, then get rewarded with one of her bags.
Grade 5S learner Amber Bezuidenhout was the first recipient of one of Tessa’s bags.
