Treverton College. It is a priviledge for Schools That Rock to ask a few questions to Choolwe Mulaisho. She is the Head Girl of Treverton College, Mooi River, Kwazulu-Natal for the year of 2022.

Choolwe, how do you see your role as head leader of Treverton?

I see my role as one that comes with a huge amount of responsibility. This position gives way for the incoming juniors and our fellow student body someone to look up to. It means I now have a duty to lead by example. I also see this role as a blessing and something that is humbling in the fact that our school at large has been able to trust us with such a big responsibility to lead them in 2022.

How did the past 4 years at Treverton College prepare you for your role as leader?

I would say these past years prepared me for my role as a leader through the small opportunities we’ve had. It range from working together on group projects in class, to working together on debate team. All the way to the end where we had to help each other as a unit as we attended our grade 11 leadership camp.

Who do you look to for inspiration and mentoring?

For inspiration I look to some really influential figures from history such as the likes of Maya Angelou and for mentoring I am guided by my mum and some of my aunties.

Which field of study do you intend pursuing after school?

Intend on studying law.

Which characteristic (i.e. sport, culture or academic) of Treverton do you feel is most prominent?

I feel there is a combination of academics and sport which are most prominent at Treverton.

Do you think participation in sport should be made compulsory in schools?

I do think sport should be made compulsory at schools, due to the many benefits that it comes with. At the same time schools should be able to present an array of options for students so that everyone can be included and fully enjoy the benefits of taking part in sports.

What did you enjoy most during your school career?

So far I have enjoyed the people and the different blend of personalities and backgrounds at our school. I have also enjoyed how we have been given the opportunities to tap into our specific interests , whether it is music, outdoor pursuits or or.

What are your objectives as head leader of your school?

My objectives for this year, is to perpetuate an atmosphere of working hard and staying consistent in at least one aspect in school towards other students.

What motivates you to reach your goals?

I would say that it is to do with where I see myself once I’ve accomplished my set goals and that is what drives me to keep working and staying consistent.

Why would you encourage learners to become part of your school?

I would encourage learners to come to my school for the many opportunities that my school provides to tap into any of their passions. Whether their focus is being outside or striving to be academic, my school provides the support to be involved in various aspects of school life.

What are your future goals/ambitions?

My future goals would be to ensure that I’m independent and I aim to one day have my own law firm.
