The Willows Pavilion. Yesterday, 27 March, a special ceremony was held at Kearsney College, KwaZulu Natal. It was the official naming of The Willows Pavilion as well as the unveiling of a plaque in honour of Kearsney legend Mr Ant Willows. This is a fitting tribute to Mr Willows, whose impact on tennis at Kearsney has been nothing short of extraordinary.
As a former provincial and SA Veterans tennis player, Ant also brought a wealth of experience and passion to Kearsney. He turned their tennis programme into one of the finest in the country. Through his vision, the Kearsney Tennis Festival was also founded in 1996. International tours were established, and the school’s tennis pavilion became a reality. In 2024, the Ant Willows Trophy, for exceptional tenacity, was introduced. It was to honour his immense contribution to tennis at the College and beyond as well as to recognise his incredible legacy.
Following the ceremony, friends and special guests enjoyed a wonderful farewell function to thank Ant for his 32 years of dedicated and passionate service to the College. Furthermore to honour his incredible contribution to the College and the massive impact he has had on generations of Kearsney boys.
