Surfing. Camps Bay High School Grade 12 learner , Sam Warren, recently had the surfing opportunity to paddle out on Cape Town’s biggest waves at Dungeons and Sunset Reef.
Writing for surfline.com, Marcus Sanders and surf-photojournalist Alan van Gysen, reported on the recent activities at Dungeons and Sunset Reef. Under the expert guidance of big wave surfing legend, Grant “Twiggy” Baker, who flew down from Durban for the the swell, Sam Warren, was able to catch some monster waves with the sets coming in at between 15 and 25 foot.
Said Alan van Gysen in the surfline.com article, “The standout of the two-day swell at both Dungeons and Sunset was, without a doubt, young Sam Warren.”
He added, “Sam Warren took two huge drops at Dungeons earlier in the day – many who watched from up on the mountain thought it was Grant “Twiggy” Baker. Once they got out on the water, though, they discovered it was his younger protege.” High praise indeed for Sam!
