The St Charles College Grade 7 Class of 2020 were the first to experience the “Grade 7 Epic”. Armed with ideas brainstormed during Art Blast in the 3rd term, boys pooled their thinking in their 6-man teams to build a go kart. The week began with amazing race-style challenges at various stations where the best time gave the winning team the advantage of first choice of workstation. Problem-solving, teamwork, conflict resolution, critical thinking and some good hard labour were all components necessary for success. Amongst the work, there was time to enjoy being together, playing and a braai around the pool. Wednesday evening’s dinner at Aintree Lodge marked a special occasion as the boys transition into High School. We now wait in anticipation of the Epic Race, where the Grade 7 teachers (AKA the Dream Team) will test their creation against the boys’ karts, vying for top spot on the podium.
