St Charles College. St Charles College, Pietermaritzburg, is a special place. On Friday morning’s Sports Assembly, the school had the whole College from Grade 000 to Grade 12 join together in the Samke Khumalo Arena.
There was a lot of excitement. The school was also privileged to welcome back Old Boys from as far back as 1963. More recent OB’s, Matt Mortimer and Lawrence Lawler, who presented the 1st team hockey and rugby teams, also wore their Game Day jerseys. St Charles College thanks them for being with them on the morning and inspiring the boys.
From Lethu Ngcobo’s (Grade 7) opening prayer, to Mr Barron’s quiz for the Scrummies, the Senior School also enjoyed a good luck video made by the JPs and Mr Gregg Cole-Edwardes. It reminded them all of the unique brotherhood which is fostered daily on the Saints campus. The Head of the Sports Council, Kgaogelo Mashiloane, also congratulated the Prep School boys on their excellent start to the rugby season. He also wished them all the best as they take to The Oval and Delalle for their matches today, Saturday, 6 May.
Following tradition, the War Cry Leaders generated some energy and gees as the assembly closed. With that, the Old Boys Weekend 2023 of St Charles College officially was opened. The boys in Blue & Gold are ready. – Mr Rowan Irons (Director of Sport).
