Rivalries in sport are inevitable, important and age-old; there are two forms of rivalries and unfortunately, unhealthy rivalries are all too common nowadays. We are pleased the St Charles College, Pietermaritzburg vs Maritzburg College city derby is both back and very healthy! It first began in 1882 and was reignited on their Rugby and Hockey fields last Saturday after a 41 year void. The Saints teams played with courage and fire in front of the large crowds who came out to support in wet and slippery conditions. It was an excellent day of schoolboy sport and we look forward to hosting the Maritzburg Day on our campus next year. – Mr Rowan Irons
