St Charles College put their unbeaten record on the line this last weekend against a passionate and determined Michaelhouse team. With the Saints winning on the Michaelhouse court during the Stayers season, Michaelhouse were keen to return the favour on the SCC home court. St Charles College got off to a good start, taking advantage of some loose play from Michaelhouse which resulted in fast break points. This ultimately led to an early lead at the end of the first period.
With consistent play, the Saints team were able to extend their lead to 10 by the half. However, the third period belonged to the visitors. Controlling the offensive glass meant they were able to get valuable second and third shot opportunities which cut into the lead and resulted in a tight game at the end of the third. The fourth period was a tight affair with no more than 8 points separating the two teams; however, it was the Saints team that managed to make the big shots when it counted.
Behind a mammoth game from the Saints captain, Luyanda Mazeka, the Saints managed to run out the clock and get the 7 point win.
