The #44daysagaintsracism campaign commenced on the 15th of June 2017. This movement aims to raise awareness about racism and other forms of discrimination in our country. St Andrew’s School for Girls has taken the initiative to be a part of this campaign. As integrity, grace and community are core values of our school community, a few grade 12s of 2017 hosted a quiet sit-in, in solidarity with fellow South African youths, as means to reflect on the future of our country and what it means to be a South African – an identity that encompasses all races, cultures, religions and genders.

AGAINST RACISM 2

This sit-in was completely voluntary. This is an important time to reflect as well as a time to celebrate what unifies us rather than what divides us.
