Well done to all the girls for their enthusiasm and sportsmanship; and thank you to our Sports Department for coordinating fun-filled events!
St Andrew’s sports programme is a vital component of each girl’s education. Apart from enabling them to enjoy the many health benefits of physical activity, it provides them with yet another opportunity to grow in leadership ability and self-esteem.
Playing and excelling in sports teaches young people the importance of perseverance, teamwork and sportsmanship, while at the same time enabling them to experience the simple joy of using the physical body.
They encourage the girls to participate in a variety of sports at interhouse level. Sports on offer include:
Golf and equestrian sports take place at the Kensington and Royal Johannesburg golf clubs and at riders’ own stables respectively.
- Modern aquatic centre, featuring a 25-metre, 8-lane pool, indoor learn-to-swim facility and diving well
- Grass athletics track
- Flood-lit hockey AstroTurf
- Netball courts (10)
- Squash courts (4)
- Tennis courts (9)
