Schools That Rock asked Brooklyn Harvey, Vise Headgirl from Marais Viljoen High School in Alberton, a few questions.
Question: What do you look forward to most when the 2021 school year starts? I’m excited to start working again. I miss the order and routine of school. I look forward to setting goals for myself and working towards achieving them.
Question: Are there any changes or adjustments you would like to see happen at your school? I would like to see a stronger relationship between the English and Afrikaans learners.
Question: If you had to make a statement to convince someone that your school is the right choice, what would that statement be? The staff and educators are very passionate about their work. They go out of their way to help you understand the work and achieve your goals. They help build your confidence, develop your skills and improve your knowledge.
Question: Who would you consider to be your role model at your school? I do not have a role model at my school.
Question: Which sport activity offered at your school is your favourite? Netball is my favorite sport.
Question: What is your favourite meal? Macaroni and cheese is my favorite meal.
Question: Which career choices are you considering after school? I’m currently interested in Psychology, but I’m not 100% sure yet.
Question: Which university do you want to attend next year? The University of Cape Town, The University of Pretoria, The University of the Witswatersrand and The University of Stellenbosch.
Question: Do you have a message for your fellow pupils for 2021? Despite the challenges that continue to arise, we are resilient and brilliant. We will overcome the obstacles that stand in our way and will surpass all expectations. Work hard to achieve your goals; your success and growth are entirely dependent on you, your decisions and your actions. Remember: What you put in is what you get out- You cannot expect to receive an A if you study for a B.
